Tennessee Marriage License

You must obtain a marriage license to be legally married in the State of Tennessee. It is surprisingly easy to get your marriage license in Sevier County, there is no waiting period and a blood test is not required.
Tennessee Residents- If you or you fiancé are legal residents of Tennessee the cost of your marriage license will be $98.50.
Non-Tennessee Residents- If you are both legal residents of another state or country and are getting married in Tennessee, your marriage license will cost $38.50
Requirements:
~ Both participants must be 18 years of age or older. If you are under 18 you may contact the courthouse for special requirements.
~ Both participants must present a valid driver’s license or certified birth certificate. You must present a Social Security card if you do not have a driver’s license or a state-issued ID.
~ If either participant has been divorced or widowed, you will need to know the exact date that the divorce was final or the date of death. If the bride has had a name change in her divorce and has not changed her name on her driver’s license, she will need to present a certified copy of the divorce decree.
~ The license must be used within 30 days of issuance, there is no waiting period so the license may be used on the same day that it is applied for.
~ Both participants must be present, the courthouse cannot send out applications for marriage licenses.
